Chris Arnold and Ireland Lacrosse
by posted 03/05/2012

Congrats to Chris Arnold for being recognized Internationally...here are his summer plans.

Ireland Lacrosse, the national governing body for the sport of lacrosse in Ireland, is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Arnold as Head Coach for the 2012 Irish National Development Team (also known as Éire).  This team will be competing in the Festival Tournament which is taking place alongside the 2012 European Lacrosse Championships in  Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in June 2012.  This tournament will feature club teams from around Europe and the rest of the world.  The Irish National Development Team (Éire) has been in existence since 2006 and operates as a feeder team for the senior national team, and over the years a significant number of development team alumni have progressed to  the senior national team.

On the occasion of this appointment, former Irish National Team Captain and current CEO of Ireland Lacrosse Michael Kennedy said, "We are extremely happy to have Chris on-board again as part of our programme.  Chris lived in Ireland from 2007-2009 and during that time had a major impact on the development of our players and our programmes, working as Head Coach for the University College Dublin (UCD) team which would become the powerhouse team of Irish lacrosse, and assisting with the establishment of the Irish Lacrosse League (ILL), which is now in its third year of operation.  Chris was also Head Coach of the senior Irish national team at the 2009 Celtic Cup tournament in Scotland, where the team finished in third place.  We are therefore very excited to have Chris involved with the next generation of new Irish  players and his experience and enthusiasm for the game has been, and will be, a real asset to our programme."

Prior to his move to Ireland, Chris coached at Tampa Jesuit High School in Florida for several years, and in 2009 he moved to Austria where, among other things, he acted as Head Coach of the Austrian national team at the 2010 World Lacrosse Championships in Manchester, England.  Chris is currently the Head Coach of the varsity lacrosse team at Kingwood High School and is heavily involved in other lacrosse development initiatives in the Houston area.

Further information about Ireland Lacrosse is available at www.irelandlacrosse.ie  and further information about the 2012 European Lacrosse Championships is available at http://www.ec12lacrosse.com/en.

Here's a little something for all of us lacrosse players and fans to get excited about.  The lacrosse movie called "Crooked Arrows" is due to be released in theaters this spring.  It's an action-packed film that will highlight the Native American tradition of lacrosse.  Keep an eye out for release dates but, in the meantime, take a look at the movie trailer by clicking on the following link:

Bring plenty of water.

The offical policy concerning cancellations due to rain and or thunderstorms is:

Practice is cancelled if there are Thunderstorms/Lightning in the area 1 hour before the scheduled training session.

Practice is cancelled if it is raining at the time of practice or has been raining for several hours before practice.

These policies are in place for the safety and well being of the players. While lacrosse games are played in the rain, we don't need to put the players health at risk for practice.

Your lacrosse academy registration is based on 6 training sessions a month, although 8-9 are scheduled monthly. This gives us some flexibility and ensures we don't have to reschedule for every rain event.

If there are any questions about a practice cancellation, please check your email before practice and/or call the coach directly.
